Play Any Games with Your Favorite Magazine Lately?

Blogimage_beerwest Readers of the Winter issue of Beer West magazine were able to interact with the articles and ads, and do things like: Play Beer Trivia, download recipes, view videos, design their own beer coasters to share on Flicker and much more. Beer West is one of the first U.S. magazines to embed digital watermarks into its images to create rich media experiences from the printed page. If you’re in the business of creating images (and enjoy a nice pint), you really should check it out. In fact, go to www.digimarc.com/beerme if you’d like us to send you a copy to try out on your own.

Kicking Off 2011 With Digimarc Discover

I first want to apologize for the recent lack of activity here on the blog. There's good reason though as we here at Digimarc have been very busy and are extremely excited about things to come.

You may have noticed that we've made a few minor changes to the blog site and have welcomed a few more authors (see to the right). Yes, Don and I are going to continue to share with you lots of valuable information about Digimarc for Images, but also wanted to expand the the focus of the blog to better showcase Digimarc's vision for a world where intuitive computing is part of our everyday lives. I touched on this briefly already in my previous post "Digimarc Discover: The Future" but now we'll have more experts who will be able to help keep us better informed.

My Magical Talisman

Iphone-talisman I'm noticing a theme amongst our latest blog entries: A love of smartphones.

More often than not I turn to my smartphone to communicate in some fashion, get information, entertainment and maybe even a little shopping done. Even the lack of a full-size keyboard is becoming less the problem since I actually dictated this blog to my smart phone.

Not only can I talk to my phone, my phone is starting to see and hear my world. Now I can use the Digimarc Discover app to identify a unique individual item like an image and get a specific response. Find a copy of the Winter issue of Beer West and you can try it too.  What's next? Check out this video.

As Arthur C. Clarke once said: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic".
