Scripting in Adobe Photoshop Elements 8

Blog_elements8box Over the last couple of weeks there have been a couple of comments to my post on how to create a script in Photoshop to automate the embedding process.

Specifically, Charmen and Raffi were asking about using scripts in Adobe Elements to automate the embedding process.

Adobe Elements 8 does not support the user to record/create action scripts. About 5 years ago it was possible to take a Photoshop script, export it and load it into Elements. I thought that ability was still available, but haven't been able to find a way to do it. But, while I don't have the solution, I do have a resource.

I found a wonderful blog called Texas Chicks, and have already added her feed to my RSS reader.

She provides a full run through installing recorded actions into both PC and Mac version of Elements. It's not simple, but that's the way Adobe designed it.

So this helps with part 1 of the automation question for Elements. Part 2 is creating a simple generic script.

I'm really busy at work and hope to help with this, but if anyone creates and wants to share a script that automates watermarking in Elements 8, please, by all means let me know. I'd be glad to help you get it posted as a resource for other users. At the moment it'll would be for the glory and phase of your watermarking fellows. If there's enough feedback or a couple of submissions maybe we can hold a contest for the best one.

Later,
Don
